Chelda Kondo is a diversity, equity and inclusion expert with over 15 years of justice oriented experience. Committed to systemic change, she approaches her consulting, teaching, research, activism, and public service by centering the most marginalized among us.
Chelda completed her Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota where she studied Culture and Teaching.
In 2014, Chelda was approached to evaluate the effectiveness of a non-profit education organization working in Haiti. The “client” wanted her unique voice - that of a Haitian American education expert. After successfully working with the group for three weeks, more pro-bono invitations kept coming and they haven’t stopped since.
As Chelda talked amongst her network, she learned that nearly all her Black Womxn friends were regularly recruited to offer their unique perspective, experience, validation and evaluation work. Each time, motivated by our commitments to inform change, we obliged. Each time, we weren’t compensated.
In 2016, Chelda started Cultivating Equity as a platform that recognizes, honors, and compensates the expertise, experiences, and voices of Black Womxn.
